Tell your doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: dark urine, persistent nausea/vomiting, severe stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, signs of infection (e.g., fever with persistent sore throat), easy bruising/bleeding, chest pain, shortness of breath, change in the amount of urine.

Side effects that may occur while taking Asacol includes abdominal or stomach cramps, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, runny or stuffy nose and sneezing.If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Asacol (Generic Mesalamine) is used to treat inflammatory bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis. Mesalamine is an aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory drug. It prevents your body from making certain natural chemicals that may cause pain and swelling. Asacol (Generic Mesalamine) may also be used to treat Crohn's disease.

Take Asacol by mouth with or without food, usually 3 times a day or as directed by your doctor. Dosage is based on patient's medical condition and response to the treatment.
Swallow this tablet whole. The tablet should not be crushed, chewed, or boken else the drug will not be properly released into the body.

There are no drug Interactions.
