Effexor XR (Venlafaxine XR) Warning
Patients who have high blood pressure, any kidney, heart or liver related disease should be prescribed Effexor XR with caution.
If there is an increase in patient?s blood pressure after taking Effexor XR, there should be a dosage adjustment.
Effexor XR increases the heart beat rate, hence, it should be taken with extreme caution by patient?s who have had a recent history of heart attacks.
Effexor XR may lead to skin redness.

Effexor XR (Venlafaxine XR) Cautions
side effects that can occur while taking Effexor XR might include , increased sweating, trouble in sleeping, abnormal dreams, heart burn, anxiety or nervousness, chills, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, weight loss, dizziness, drowsiness, dryness of mouth, loss of appetite, nausea, stuffy or runny nose, stomach pain or gas, trembling or shaking, unusual tiredness or weakness.

Effexor XR (Venlafaxine XR) Description
General Information:
Effexor XR is used for the treatment of Depression and Anxiety. There are 2 chemicals in the human brain namely Serotonin and Norepinephrine . Venlafaxine XR helps by maintaining the balance between the two.
The symptoms of Depression are appetite change, mood swings, feeling tired, loss of concentration, slow thinking process.
The symptoms of Anxiety include tiredness, lack of concentration, feeling irritated, insomnia, tension in muscles.
Important facts about Effexor XR:
Effexor XR should never be taken coupled up with MAO inhibitors, antidepressants. If a patient is already on any of the anti depressant drugs or MAO inhibitors, he should keep a gap of about 15 days before taking Effexor XR.
One should not BUY Effexor XR is he is allergic to it. The patient should visit his doctor regularly while he is on this medication. Venlafaxine XR should not be stopped without the doctor's advice.

- cimetidine (Tagamet, Tagamet HB)
- warfarin (Coumadin)
- ketoconazole (Nizoral)
- tryptophan (sometimes called L-tryptophan)
- haloperidol (Haldol) or risperidone (Risperdal)
- almotriptan (Axert), frovatriptan (Frova), Sumatriptan (Imitrex), naratriptan (Amerge), rizatriptan (Maxalt), or zolmitriptan (Zomig)
- any other antidepressants such as amitriptyline (Elavil), amoxapine (Ascendin), citalopram (Celexa), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), Escitalopram (Lexapro), Fluoxetine (Prozac), fluvoxamine (Luvox), imipramine (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor), Paroxetine (Paxil), protriptyline (Vivactil), sertraline (Zoloft), or trimipramine (Surmontil)
Effexor XR should also not be combined with alcohol

Effexor XR should be taken as prescribed by the doctor. The capsule should be taken as a whole and should not be broken or crushed before taking. It should be taken at the same time every day.
