Prilosec is used to treat excessive production of acid in stomach. It is used for gastro esophageal reflux disease and other symptoms caused due to excessive acid. It also promotes the healing of damage caused to esophagus due to acid produced in stomach. When given along with antibiotics, it helps to reduce the gastric ulcers caused due to H. pylori(helicobacter pylori). Discuss with your doctor, if you are allergic to any drug or a chemical specially if you are a heart patient or is facing any liver related problems. Patients allergic to omeprazole should not take Prilosec. Keep the medicine away from moisture and heat

Never take Prilosec by Yourself. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine and discuss all the symptoms that you are facing. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed. Do not take it in larger amounts or for longer period than prescribed.

Doctor has prescribed me Prilosec, How can I start taking it?

Take your dosage as recommended by your Doctor. Do read all the medication guides before you start taking your medicine. You may feel completely alright before the period is complete however do not stop taking the medicine by yourself. Take it for entire length of time as per the prescription. You should give at least four months of gap between treatment with Prilosec OTC and the course taken for Prilosec. Take medicine with a full glass of water. Never chew this medicine. Take the medicine empty stomach.

I missed my dose, what can I do to fulfill it?

Take the medicine normally as per the normal schedule. Do not intake the extra dose to cover up the missed dose. In future, take the medicine as soon as you remember however if it is a time to take another dose, miss the skipped dose and continue as per the schedule.

Over dosage may cause drowsiness, headaches, vision problems, palpitations, nausea, excessive sweating. Contact your doctor immediately if you face any other serious issues.

I am a nursing mother and is planning to become pregnant again. What is the effect of this medicine on the ladies like me?

The effect of this medicine on the pregnant ladies is still not clear however as you are a nursing mother, do not take this medicine or do not breast feed the baby as it may mix with the milk and can cause harm to a baby.
