Yasmin is an oral medication used for birth control in women. It is used to prevent pregnancy in women who want to use an oral contraceptive. It works by preventing release of egg from an ovary, hindering the sperms to reach uterus which prevents pregnancy. Yasmin is also used to cure acne which is a skin disease caused in adolescence. Acne is caused due to increase in the sex hormones during puberty, while not particular time frame is unknown for Acne to diminish; it usually diminishes in early twenties. Yasmin medication is also used to treat premenstrual syndrome, during premenstrual syndrome; you may experience sudden mood swings, anxiety and tension, irritability which may hinder social and work life functions. Feeling tired and fatigued, change in sex drive (increase or decrease), sleep disorder and feeling out of control are other symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. Premenstrual syndrome is also called as PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). If you are thinking to use an oral contraceptive for birth control, you may seriously consider Yasmin as a medication. Side effects of Yasmin

Some of the serious side effects of Yasmin include breast lumps, pain, swelling or tenderness. It may also cause problems with speech, vision and physical balance of the body. You might have a sleep disorder, body weakness and sudden mood changes. If you have any of these during period of intake, please consult your doctor. If you have any previous history of migraine, it may cause severe migraine headache as a side effect. It may also cause weakness in the body and eventually lead to jaundice. Vaginal Itching and changing in the menstrual periods are other known side effects of Yasmin pills. It might also cause difficulty in breathing, swelling of tongue or throat infection.

Important Information

Yasmin is highly not recommended if you get unusual vaginal bleeding, history of blood clots, stroke or diabetes. Taking medicine with kidney or liver disease may also prove to be harmful. If you already have migraine headaches or history of jaundice caused by contraceptives, it is not recommended to take Yasmin. Intake of Yasmin with present breast of uterine cancer may lead to increase in number of lesions and may cause life threatening disease. You should not take Yasmin if you are already pregnant as it may cause harm to the unborn child, it may slow down breast milk production and cause birth defects in the baby. Please consult your doctor if you became pregnant during the course of medication, you may need to immediately stop using the medication. Yasmin may cause intense vaginal bleeding; if the bleeding continues, please consult your doctor immediately.
