Aricept is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. For better result take this medicine as prescibed by the doctor. This medication should not be taken in larger amount as, take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. You need to inform your doctor if you need to have any type of surgery before taking Aricept medication. Take this medicine with a full glass of water with or without food or milk. Do not swallow the tablet whole. Allow it to dissolve in your mouth without chewing. Swallow several times as the tablet dissolves. After the tablet dissolves completely, drink a glass of water.
Aricept medicine also have common to serious side effect. Some serious side effect are black, bloody, tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit, painful or difficult urination and seizure, if you observe any sign of above mentioned side effect you should immediately consult your doctor. Common side effect of this medicine are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, tired feeding and sleeping problem.
You should take this medicine as prescribe by the doctor for better use. Try to take this medicine at the same time each day. If in case you miss your dose take this medicine as soon as you remember, but if it the time of next dose then avoid the missed dose and continue with the dose schedule. Aricept is available in form of tablet or an orally disintegrating tablet form. The initial dosage recommended for this medicine is 5 mg a day. If this medicine is easily accepted by the patient body after 4 to 6 weeks then the dosage of the medicine may be increased to 10 mg a day.
