Aspirin/Ecotrin is an OTC product.

• Aspirin/Ecotrin should never be administered to children or adolescent who has signs or symptoms of chickenpox or flulike illness.
• Be aware that Aspirin/Ecotrin should be discontinued at least 1 week before surgery because it may inhibit platelet aggregation.

Aspirin/Ecotrin is used to relieve many kinds of minor aches and pain headaches, toothaches, muscle pain, menstrual cramps, the joint pain from arthritis, and aches associated with colds and flu. Aspirin/Ecotrin is different from Aspirin in the way that the former is an enteric coated tablet. It is designed to dissolve safely in the small intestine and not in the stomach. Aspirin/Ecotrin also helps in preventing irregular bowel movements which is a common side effect in case of Aspirin.

Important facts about Aspirin/Ecotrin:

Aspirin/Ecotrin should not be given to children as it may effect their brain and liver seriously.
Alcoholic drinks should be avoided if a person is taking Aspirin/Ecotrin.
Pregnant women and lactating mothers should take this medicine only on doctor's recommendation.

Side effects are the same as Aspirin except for the fat that Aspirin/Ecotrin leads to lesser burning sensation in the stomach and heart and it does not upsets the stomach.

Aspirin/Ecotrin should be taken with a glass of water. To avoid upset stomach, it can be taken with food or milk. The tablet should not chewed or broken and should be swallowed as as a whole. The chewable tablet should be chewed properly and should not be swallowed. The orally disintegrating tablet should be placed in the mouth and it would dissolve on its own. The medicine should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor. The dosage should not be increased or decreased on your own without the doctor's word.
