General Information:
Acetylcysteine is prescribed in the treatment of chronic pulmonary disease, acute bronchopulmonary disease, atelectasis resulting from mucous obstruction, and acetaminophen poisoning. It helps patients who have breathing problems. It works by decreasing the viscosity of pulmonary secretions by breaking disulfide links of mucoproteins. This medication is available in the form of injections and Oral solution.

Acetylcysteine may change color in the opened bottle. This is harmless. Store unopened bottles of acetylcysteine at room temperature, away from heat and light. Opened bottles of undiluted solution may be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. If you miss a dose of acetylcysteine 200mg and you are using it regularly, use it as soon as possible and then go back to your regular dosing schedule.p>
