Capoten is used for the treatment of hypertension and heart failure.

• Capoten medication should not be used in children as the safety of this drug has not been established in them.
• The medicine should be discontinued as soon as possible when pregnancy is detected.
• Anything in place of salt and supplemental potassium should not be used while on this medication.

• Capoten should be used cautiously in patients suffering from renal and hepatic impairment and in people having history of angioedema.
• Patient should be monitored for sudden blood pressure drop within 3 hours of initial dose if patient is receiving concurrent diuretics and on a low-sodium diet.
• Capoten medicine should be used cautiously in elderly patients as severity of side effects is more in them.

Capoten is used for the treatment of hypertension and heart failure that can result from any structural or functional cardiac disorder that impairs the ability of the heart to fill with or pump a sufficient amount of blood through the body. It also preserves the kidney function in progressive kidney disease. Capoten is available in the form of tablets.

Capoten tablets should be taken exactly as prescribed and the dosage should not be increased or decreased without the doctor's recommendation. The medicine should be taken with a glass of water on an empty stomach 1 hour prior to meals. All other hypertensives should be discontinued at least 7 days before starting the Capoten medicine. The patient should be advised to drink lots of water while on this medication to avoid dehydration.
