Valtrex is used to treat viral infections such as Herpes zoster characterized by a painful skin rash with blisters in a limited area on one side of the body. It is also use to treat cold sores. It interferes with viral DNA synthesis and replication, hence treating the infection. Valtrex is available in the form of caplets.

Valtrex tablets should be given exactly as prescribed by the doctor and the dosage should not be increased or decreased on your own. The medicine should be taken with water with or without meals.
